Mary Susan Beytagh Davis Smith
SAVANNAH - Mary Susan Beytagh Davis Smith passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, August 5, 2012, with her four children at her side.
A native of Savannah, Mary Sue was born July 9, 1927 to the late William Joseph and Eva Phillipson Beytagh. She graduated from St. Vincent's Academy in 1945 and from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in 1948 and enjoyed her work for several years.
She was Past President for two terms of the Daughters of Ireland and was Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Knights of Columbus 5588. A lifelong Catholic, Sue was a former member of St. James Catholic Church and attended St. Peter the Apostle Church in her later years. Her family, her faith, and the Catholic Church were the things most important in her life. Sue saw beauty in everything and everyone around her.
Surviving are her children, Ann Wilson Scott of Starke, FL, Susan Teasdale Malcolm of Destin, FL, Eva Ennis Terry of Savannah, and Chuck Davis Kelly of Duluth, GA; 8 grandchildren, Amber Carty, Eugene Wilson, Stephanie Trotter, Alexis Cronan, Dillon Cronan, Janie Davis, Tara Shea Ennis, and Meg Davis; two great-grandchildren, Madison and Jensen Carty; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands, Charlie Davis and Robbie Smith, her brothers, Tom and Billy Beytagh and her sister, Ibby Beytagh Schladenhauffen.
The family would like to thank her caregivers from Spanish Oaks Hospice and Shirley Jones for their love and care.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 5-7 pm, with a Vigil Service at 7:00 pm, at Fox & Weeks Funeral Directors, Islands Chapel.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
Interment will follow in Bonaventure Cemetery.
